Monday Stats #1

New Feature!

Yes, I have decided that every Monday morning from now on, I'll post an update on my skills. Since I started this blog, I've gained quite a lot of levels, mainly from working on my low-level skills like Construction and Farming.

My biggest skill jumps have been in the following skills:

Magic (8 levels 37-35)
Runecrafting (7 levels 32-39)
Thieving (7 levels 36-43)
Fishing (7 levels 42-49)
Farming (7 levels 21-28)

I have gone up 54 levels in total, up to 938 right now.

I've decided that from now on, all my xp lamps are going towards Hunter. It's a skill that I really don't want to train. I know that I'm only gonna get a measly amount of xp from each lamp, but I'm prepared to slave away for ages to chip at it.

See you Thursday, unless I can get Internet access when I'm away.

Farming and Fishing

I've been doing a lot of levelling recently. Construction has gone up quite a bit, and so have some small amounts of my other skills.

Today, however, was different. I decided to go crazy with farming. I started with potatoes, and then 'spent' the potatoes that I grew on onions, and built up from there. It's a reasonably fast way to level, especially now I can Camelot teleport. This is how I do it:

- Go to Ectofunctus (needs Ghosts Ahoy! quest), and cross to the farm. Plant. Pay.
- Use Explorer's Ring to go to Cabbage Patch. Plant. Pay
- Teleport to Camelot. Run to Catherby. Plant. Pay.
- Run to Ardougne. Plant. Pay

Then I go to the fishing spots near Catherby and hunt for lobsters. They took ages at first, but I'm already at fishing level 47, nearly 48. This method also has my farming level at 27, up from 23 this morning.

The only problems were getting hold of seeds. I've mainly been pickpocketing Martin the Master Gardener in Draynor until I'm almost dead. I've also been using a few of the lobsters to keep my health up, although I may make a bunch of baked potatoes instead as they heal better. It took forever to get sweetcorn seeds.

Then I used Tip.it to find out what was needed to pay for sweetcorn - 10 jute fibres. What's needed to pay for jute? 6 barley malt. So I also had to grow a lot of that. I have one allotment of sweetcorn going right now, and one of cabbages (as I need them for tomatoes).

Annoying things: Going to the Great Exchange. It really lags up my computer, which is slow anyway. I can't even have two tabs open sometimes because of how rubbish my laptop is. And sometimes, when it's really bad, I click on the 'x' to close the box and it decides I've also clicked to walk somewhere, so I have to walk all the way back again.

Bits of skills

Friday:

Today has been a day for lots of little levelling-ups. Just after blogging last night, I managed to gain yet another woodcutting level. Here's some trivia for you: when you reach level 53, you are 1% to level 99! I like working things like that out. Next I grabbed my barley, roasted it, grabbed the Asgarnian hops, 5 ectofunctus tokens... oh, look it up! I went to Port Phasmatys and started some Asgarnian Ale brewing. I look forward to getting construction level 24, as I can then make an oven.

fish familiar

I went over to Catherby, and this morning reached level 43 fishing. I've been stuffing my kitten full of cod and mackerel in a desperate desire to get an overgrown cat! They take forever to grow up. The reason it's cod and mackerel is because I'm big net fishing for pearls and seaweed. Only got 2 pearls, though. They're going on my iron bolts.

Next stop Karamja, and I killed a bunch of spiders for their bodies. Then I headed to Falador, where I created a bunch of summoning pouches. Sadly, I didn't have enough to get to summoning 11 (you need tons for summoning), but I did make some scrolls. The spiders are great, 'cos they give you a ton of red spider eggs that I can use for Herblore. In fact, I'm now level 28 in that.

My goal for next time I'm on Runescape is to work at the last bits of levels. Some of them only have a few xp to go. So anything with less than 1k xp – except Hunter – will be gone for. That's Ranging, Herblore, Summoning, Runecrafting, Construction, Farming, at least.

spider pots

Saturday:

Well I haven't been up to much so far today. I've killed a few more spiders – just 7 more and I should make it to the next familiar in Summoning. But I'm not going to be on much over the next week, so tomorrow I'll have a big blast at farming. It's RL for me at the moment.

Stolen Creation

Last night, before bed, I decided to try out the Stealing Creation minigame. It was fun. I wasn't brilliant, but my team won and I got 23 points for myself. To celebrate, I blew them on a proto-tool that I can convert to whatever I want.

This morning I was back to runecrafting and maging. Finally, I succeeded! I'm now level 45 magic and able to teleport to Camelot. Doing so updated my Seer's Village achievement diary, but it's still going to take me a long time to complete the medium level assignments, as my agility level isn't good enough.

So what was I going to do next? Stuck for ideas, I looked through my skills chart for my lower levels. My goal is to have the lowest xp for the highest levels, as it amuses me that the top person in the overall scores for a certain amount of levels can have over 21mill xp more than the next person above them (the lowest person for one more level than them). Avoiding the hunter skill, and summonning too (I need to go to Karamja at some point for spider carcasses), I chose Construction. Working slowly, I'm now level 23 construction, and I've decorated my rune helmet in my family colours - aka the Kandarin colours. I wonder if I can change my family crest.

Farming was also affected by this. I need to make an Asgarnian Ale barrel, so I'm growing barley and Asgarnian hops. I also gained a farming level by planting things in my garden. Whilst growing the Asgarnian hops, I've been chopping willows with my Sacred Clay Hatchet. Good news - I gained a woodcutting level! Now I'm level 53.

So lots of levelling today. More tomorrow in construction, and maybe even cooking when the ale is done.

Shooting up levels

Today was a great day for working in Runescape. After attacking a few guards in the morning, not only did I make it to magic level 40, but I got a level 2 clue scroll. It's the first level 2 that I've ever had, and they're much more difficult than the level 1 clues. I had a long trek down to the Observatory to get my charts, watch and sextant, quickly using up all the charges in my Explorer's Ring. With navigation equipment and spade to hand, I then walked the long distance to the coordinates location – on the other side of the river to the Observatory. Sucks, eh?

After two trips to the desert and a boat journey to Karamja, I received the reward. Green dragonhide body, 10 lobsters, 12 swordfish, 11 nats and a Guthix page!
lv2clue

Naturally, my next stop was Varrock, where I sold the nats and dragonhide for about 7k in total. Then I went back to maging guards until I ran out of fire runes.
At this point, I was starting to think that there might be a better way to do this. Flesh crawlers, for example, drop tons of fire runes, and good herbs too. So it might be better to take some fire runes and a bunch of chaos runes and attack flesh crawlers, using their fire runes to back up my own. By the end of my Runescape day, this is what I had gone on to.

Most of the day was spent mining essence, crafting it (into fire or chaos runes), then attacking things! I gained Runecrafting level 38, and my magic level also rose.

Just after midday I got some good news from the bank. A splitbark armour set – for magic – that I asked for had come through on the Grand Exchange. It cost about 145k. Now I have some decent magic armour that matches both my magic and defence levels! My brother came online, and we did a trade: lots of gems for all my coal and mithril (not very much) and some food so that we were within the trade limit. Chipping all those gems got me crafting level 45! Now I can start working on snakeskin. That's another of my plans for the future in Runescape.

RANT!!!
I want to have a rant about something now. WHY WHY WHY do people offer outrageous amounts of money for stuff that they can buy in a shop for just a few gp? As an example, this guy here:
hopelost
Rope costs 25gp from Ned in Draynor, or even less if you're in members and can get to a shop. I hope someone made a killing from this idiot. I suggest that people can save their money and use it to buy much more interesting things.

Here's a screenshot of me, just before logging off. 900 levels! Magic 42! Fantastic!

Chaos

Just a short entry, as it's late. I went mad with Runecrafting. Once I'd got almost 600 essence mined, I did fire runes up until level 35. Now, I can craft Chaos runes! The plan was to do Chaos runes until level 36. So I headed out to Edgeville.

The Chaos rune altar is hidden in level 9 wilderness, with a few low-level skeletons and scorpions in between. Just head out north from the ridge between Edgeville and the Monastery. Once you enter the ruins, however, you are confronted with a maze of bridges and platforms. It looks worse when you can see all the levels (there are four). Navigating the maze and climbing down the right ladders, eventually you reach the altar, and can get your 28 chaos runes.

If you're runecrafting for money, the time probably isn't worth it. You're better off with something quicker, like cosmics. The only reason I'm not doing cosmics is because I haven't done the Lost City quest yet. I didn't see anyone else in the whole time I was working. I did, however, make it to level 36. Then I went back to Al Kharid and finished off a bunch of fires.

chaos

Now, I'm at Falador south gate. Tomorrow I'm gonna Fire Bolt those guards and keep gettting that mage level up!

Doing something different

Today, I'm training magic and range. It's midday and my virus scan has started, so Runescape isn't going to work. It's slow already 'cos my computer is only single-core and heats up very quickly. Here's what I've been up to so far:

First I grabbed my mage kit - green gnome wear, to be exact, plus an amulet of magic and an air staff. Along with that were fire and mind runes. I used fire strike on Varrock's guards until I ran out of fire runes. Result! Magic level 38!

But with no runes left, I had to go and craft some more. So it was off to see Aubrey to mine 500 Pure Essences. That done, I made 530 fire runes and 84 mind runes from the 504 essence mined, thanks to my Explorers Ring, and I achieved 34 Runecrafting! Now I can craft 4 air runes per essence (from 33 r/c). In one level, I'll be able to make chaos runes, so then I can do fire blast instead. Much more effective for levelling up! I'll also be able to make double fire runes.

firecraft

After that, I went back to maging guards, this time in Falador. I made it to Magic level 39! Now, I can do the crumple undead spell. Next level will be 40, so I can teleport to my house in Taverley. This will be very useful for getting to the other side of the mountains quickly.

When the guards had almost killed me, I changed into my ranger kit. My range level is also low, but I went off to kill chickens for feathers, so that I can make even more ammunition to use against them and against wizards. I levelled up to 25 range!

ranging

This is me in my ranger kit - brand new blurite crossbow, studded chaps and armour, amulet of accuracy, and coif. Now that I'm level 25, I have everything I need to do the underground pass quest. But that can wait for a few days.
